Remix Dry Mortar Ltd are part of the large Dutch group AGAR Holding and operate two production facilities in the UK (Bristol & Gravesend) specialising in the production of site mortar and bagged cement products.
While in the role of Operations Manager, I was responsible for ensuring both production facilities were operating optimally, reacting quickly to breakdowns and working closely with specialist contractors to implement rigid preventive maintenance regimes. I had responsibilities for the health and safety of all staff at both locations working closely with the Plant Managers to ensure that safe systems of work were implemented and writing RAMS, policies and procedures for the company.
Key Achievements
· Successfully planned and oversaw to completion within budget the £100,000 upgrade of the sand dryer software, electrical system and burner controls at Bristol Plant.
· Implemented a cost-effective CMMS to ensure maintenance tasks could be recorded electronically on plant equipment and machinery.
· Cost savings on packaging by working with RKW on increasing recycled material and reducing length of plastic film for bagging production lines.
· Implementation of new Health and Safety Management System that provided access to key information for staff and enable training matrixes, RAMS and SSOW to be uploaded and readily available for staff and contractors when required.
· Overseeing record years of production & profit, on both bagged & bulk products.
· Consistently hitting budget on production at both plants.
· Effectively resourcing, alternative cement supply during the shortages 2021/2022.
· Managing both facilities during a global pandemic, under daily changing government guidelines.
· Planning & implementing the switch from 20kg to 25kg bags, reducing consumption of plastic & CO2 emissions to be a more sustainable & environmentally friendly business.
While in the role of Plant Manager, I had full day to day responsibilities for the whole production facility, purchasing of raw materials, planning shifts, monitoring production data, dealing with disciplinary matters, safe operation of the fleet of vehicles allocated to the plant and ensuring they were serviced and roadworthy to meet compliance requirements. I also had to ensure records were kept and made available for local authority inspections and health and safety audits.
Key Achievements
· Completely turned the operation of the plant around within 3 years building a solid, confident and competent team leading to improved production and higher morale.
· Conducted research projects into production improvements to boost output and improve reliability of the bagging machine. These ideas were then discussed with the managing director and authorisation granted to implement leading to measurable improvements.
· Organised and maintained a record keeping system for all plant maintenance and put in place systems to log all COSHH / LOLER / PUWER inspections for plant equipment.
· Successful planned and oversaw the refit of the dryer filter system, a complex project involving several contractors over a period of 6 days.
· Organically increasing production year on year.
· Consistently hitting budget & KPI’s.
As a Transport Coordinator, I was part of the team at Head Office that took telephone orders from customers, planning the deliveries and utilising vehicles optimally. Working under pressure to ensure delivery requirements were met, supporting customers and the operations team with queries and allocation of resources.
Key Achievements
· Developed a database for the Operations Manager that provided detailed reports on vehicle costs that could be broken down into subcategories and analysed.
· Achieved FORS accreditation for the Company by working with both Plant Managers to ensure all criteria were met for us to be recognised as a safe and effective fleet operator. This included writing policies and procedures and implementing new management systems.
I am passionate about learning and use my free time to complete online courses and learn new skills. Computing is one of my interests and I have completed coding certificates in Java and build applications for mobile devices using Android Studio. I also enjoy being outdoors and spend a lot of time walking.
